Age of wonders 3 good class for goblins3/13/2024 ![]() Despite the inevitable spearman vs tank case that comes up in rng discussion, your early tier 1 units really can contribute in late game in AoW3. And dwellings are sort of like if city states in Civ were each unique with their own sets of special units.Įarly units don't become useless. You often end up stealing even the class specific units from opponents as well. Here, if you start as goblins and take a dwarf city, you can choose whether to migrate to goblin or just produce dwarf units from there. If you play Incans in Civ and take over a Japanese city, you don't get to produce samurai. Greater breadth of unique units within a single game. Here you have a race and class combo that combine for dozens of different units that will vary the experience from game to game even more so than a different Civ assortment between plays. Civ has a couple units and/or buildings and a unique mechanic for each Civ. Greater differentiation between factions. ![]() Much smaller tech tree which is actually partially random in order! I would guess if you play Civ V a bit too conservatively, switching out for AoW3 for awhile might actually up your Civ game (don't know for myself as I never went back - just waiting for Civ VI at this point). The comments about empire building vs wargame basically mean you cannot turtle and must play aggressive domination victory style (to put it in Civ terms). Go for it! I played hundreds of hours of Civ V, and have now played hundreds of hours of this.
